Daniel is the CEO & Founder of Arterra Mobility®, a wireless enablement enterprise launched in 2008. Arterra Mobility grew out of Kajeet, Inc.®, a company Daniel founded in his dining room in 2003 for the purpose of delivering great mobile services for children and all those who love them.
Before launching Kajeet and Arterra Mobility, Daniel served as CEO and Vice Chairman of VCampus Corporation, a public Nasdaq company that pioneered the delivery of e-learning applications and services for students, business people and government employees. Prior to VCampus, Daniel was part of the team that built from scratch – and successfully took public – USinternetworking, where he conceived of, launched, and led the AppHost™ business unit, one of the first companies in the world to provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) enablement technology and services to Independent Software Vendors. USinternetworking was successfully acquired by AT&T.
Daniel holds an AB in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Daniel has raised more than $130 million of investment capital, and is a named inventor on 28 U.S. patents. Daniel has been deeply involved in the creation, launch and growth of a number of technology and other start-up and early-stage companies, where he has frequently served as an investor and adviser. He is active in a wide range of business, investment and technology circles, including Mindshare and the Wharton Club of DC. An avid bicyclist, runner, traveler and reader, Daniel most enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, whose names are incorporated into the word “Kajeet.”
As COO, Ben is responsible overseeing the company’s strategic direction, architecture, and engineering infrastructure that underpins the Arterra business. Prior to Arterra, Ben was the founder and COO of SimplyWireless.com, an online wireless distribution company. He also spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy, including a term as an Assistant Program Manager in the nuclear surface ship propulsion program.
Ben earned his B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT, and a Masters of Engineering equivalent in nuclear reactor design through the Department of Energy. Ben is very active in his family’s hectic life.
As CTO, Andrew has the privilege of leading the talented software development and IT operations teams which are responsible for the day to day deliveries and the long term technology strategy. Andrew has thirty years experience in the technology space and is a big proponent of Agile and DevOps methodologies. Immediately prior to joining Arterra, Andrew served as SVP, Engineering at Synchronoss Inc., where he led a global team providing solutions for the telecommunications sector.
Bob Ewald serves as Senior Vice President Business Development for Arterra. He has over twenty years of leadership experience in mobile and digital product development and operations in Fortune 500 and start-up organizations. Most recently he was Vice President of Product Management at Nextel International, a wireless operator in five Latin American countries where he led the product evolution from 2G to 3G/4G technologies.
Derrick leads the operations team for Arterra Mobility. He brings over 25 years of corporate executive experience in the areas of large-scale operations management, technology development and implementation, project management, IT systems integration, product engineering, sales and new business development.
Prior to Arterra, Derrick was Vice President of IT & Cloud Solutions for Ericsson responsible for Sales and Services of Ericsson’s OSS/BSS, IT & Cloud Solutions to Cable Operators in North America.
Derrick also served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Global IP Video Solutions for Alcatel-Lucent and as the Founder & CEO of Internet video company Invision TV. Derrick spent over 11 years in the cable industry, last serving as Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering at Time Warner Cable. Derrick has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
David leads the engineering team at Arterra and is responsible for ensuring the platforms and services serve our customers’ needs now and into the future.
Before Arterra, David spent 10 years with the Amdocs, leading hoards of developers in building OSS/BSS systems, managing data-center operations for 1st tier telecom carriers, and delivering mega-software products. He left Amdocs to pursue his interest in entrepreneurship and founded Hegati, a startup company that fused social media with location-based services, of which he is still a board member. As if one new venture weren’t enough, David joined Arterra in its formative days, enticed by the opportunity to help ‘ramp it up.’
When he’s not working on the ‘next great thing’ at Arterra, you’ll find David spending time with his family, at the gym, or driving his car really fast on track days.
Molly, as Vice President of Service Delivery, is responsible for Arterra’s customer-facing and internal operations, which include launching new MVNO clients, on-going MVNO support, and customer care services. Prior to Arterra, Molly worked at XM Satellite Radio and at MCI/Worldcom as a manager of MVNO operations and project management.
Molly earned her B.A in Computer Information Science from Elon University in North Carolina. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and spending time with her two children.
Robert LaFrance is the Vice President of Sales for Arterra Mobility. With 20 years of telecommunications, software, and cloud sales experience, Robert is a seasoned, energetic leader who has sold direct to enterprises, MNOs, MSOs, partners, and VARs. Prior to Arterra, Robert served as RVP of Sales for BroadSoft (now a Cisco company). Prior to BroadSoft, Robert spent 13 years at A&T in Sales serving Fortune 100 customers.
Robert’s leadership style is highly collaborative and strategic, with attention to detail, and a focus on execution, high integrity, and high standards. Robert also has a passion for music. He was an executive by day and a nightclub DJ for 20 years, a feature writer for DJ Times magazine, and still an avid music fan. Robert balances his professional life with his greatest passion – his family. He is happily married to his wife, Bernadette, of 21 years and they have three teenage sons – John, Joseph and James.
